There is no single best decking material for every project. The right choice depends on the desired appearance, maintenance expectations, exposure, budget and how the surface will be used.
Pressure-treated wood
Wood offers a familiar appearance and can be stained in many colors. It generally requires regular cleaning and refinishing to manage moisture, checking and color change.
Composite decking
Composite boards combine wood fibers and polymers. They typically require less routine maintenance than wood and are offered in a wide range of colors and textures.
PVC decking
PVC boards are highly resistant to moisture and do not contain wood fiber. They are often selected for premium low-maintenance projects or locations with greater moisture exposure.
Compare samples in real conditions
Look at samples outdoors, in both sun and shade. Color, texture and temperature can feel different from a showroom display.
Treat the deck as a complete system
Boards are only one component. Railings, fascia, fasteners, framing protection and installation details all influence long-term performance.
